Understanding the Zodiac Basics
Before diving into individual signs, it's helpful to understand what zodiac signs actually are. Zodiac signs are regions in the sky formed by connecting stars, creating various patterns or shapes often named after mythological figures, animals, or objects. The term "zodiac" comes from the Greek word "zodiacs," meaning "circle of animals," representing the positions of stars in the sky.
The 12 zodiac signs are determined by the solar calendar, with each sign corresponding to specific date ranges used to identify one's zodiac. As the Earth moves around the Sun, the Sun appears to pass through each 30-degree arc of the zodiac, completing the journey through all 12 signs in one year.
The Four Elements
The signs are grouped into four elements, each with distinct characteristics:
· Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): Passionate, energetic, and driven
· Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): Grounded, practical, and reliable
· Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): Intellectual, social, and communicative
· Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): Emotional, intuitive, and empathetic
